  • Acids, Bases, and Salts:

    This section covers definitions, properties, examples, uses, and the pH scale. 

  • Metals and Non-metals:

    Topics include properties, reactivity series, formation of ionic compounds, metallurgical processes, and corrosion. 

  • Carbon and its Compounds:

    This covers covalent bonding, versatility of carbon, homologous series, nomenclature, and chemical properties. 

II. World of Living (Weightage: 25 Marks) 

  • Life Processes: This includes nutrition, transportation, and excretion in living organisms. 
  • Control and Coordination: This covers control and coordination in animals and plants. 
  • How do Organisms Reproduce? This includes reproduction in animals and plants (asexual and sexual), reproductive health, and family planning. 
  • Heredity and Evolution: This covers heredity, Mendel’s contribution, and sex determination. 

III. Natural Phenomena (Weightage: 12 Marks) 

  • Light – Reflection and Refraction:

    This includes laws of reflection and refraction, refractive index, lens formula, and mirror formula. 

  • Human Eye and Colorful World:

    This covers the human eye, its defects, and the phenomenon of scattering of light. 

IV. Effects of Current (Weightage: 13 Marks) 

  • Electricity:
    This includes electric current, potential difference, Ohm’s law, resistance, resistivity, and factors affecting resistance.
  • Magnetic Effects of Current:
    This covers magnetic field, magnetic field due to a current-carrying conductor, right-hand thumb rule, and electromagnetic induction.

V. Natural Resources (Weightage: 5 Marks) 

  • Sources of Energy: This includes different sources of energy and their conservation. 
  • Our Environment: This covers environmental pollution and its management.
